Recognise your Play Ranger!

Now that spring is in the air Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Councils new Play Rangers will be a common sight in our parks. The new rangers funded with £223 000 from the Big Lottery Fund have been kitted with an instantly recognisable red uniform.
The new high visibility Play Rangers will help to make our parks and play areas a safer environment for children and parents. Play in the park is a great way to get active and healthy and the Play Rangers will be providing a wide range of activities from arts and crafts to sports in parks across the borough.
The five Play Rangers are all experienced play workers with paediatric first aid and enhanced CRB checks. Play Ranger activities are open access and free meaning everyone can play safely in the park.
Councillor Neil Phillips, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Recreation said today,
“A worthwhile initiative to engage young people in recreational play. The Play rangers will be present in the following parks, Stockingford, Sorrell Road, Keresley and Newdigate, encouraging and leading inclusion with young people. They are a welcome addition to the plans in place along with our partners the Leisure Trust in maintaining and developing contact with young people. The Council is committed to encouraging active, healthy activities for young people in the Borough.”
The Play Rangers will also be running activities at six parks where Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council will be building new play areas this year; Orford Rise, Stubbs Pool, Bulkington Rec, Paul’s Land, Pool Bank Street and Johnson Road. The 6 new play areas will make a total of 21 play areas refurbished through the Council’s £2million Outdoor Play Strategy with another 22 to follow in the next four years.
