Queens Road Enhancement Scheme, Nuneaton

Works to enhance Queens Road are to start on site on Monday 25th June 2007.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, in partnership with Warwickshire County Council and Advantage West Midlands, have appointed Quantum Construction Services Ltd to carry out the works, which are programmed to take 12 weeks to complete.

The works, valued at £400,000, will enhance the section of Queens Road, between Roanne Ringway and Stratford Street. The footways and pedestrian priority zone will be repaved with clay pavers, laid in a pattern to reflect the rope making heritage of this part of the town. Improved street lighting, seating, planting and street furniture will also be provided.

During the works, vehicular access will not be available into the town centre from Queens Road. Permitted vehicles should follow the signed diversion route to Harefield Road.

Councillor Dennis Harvey, Leader of the Borough Council said;

“I am delighted that these works are to about to begin. The Council is committed to working with its partners to ensure our town centres continue to be improved and updated for the benefit of our residents and visitors alike.”

Councillor Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Economic Development added

These works will be a welcome addition to the regeneration of Nuneaton town centre by providing an attractive upgrade to this gateway into the town”
