Party Time in Nuneaton and Bedworth

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council Crest
Are you planning on organising a street party with your neighbours to celebrate this year’s Royal Wedding on April 29? If so, have you thought about whether a temporary road closure will be needed?

Applications for temporary road closures need to be submitted to the Council by the deadline of March 18 2011 to allow time for them to be processed.

The good news for street party organisers is that there will be no charge associated with road closure applications for the forthcoming Royal Wedding.  Usually, the Council is obliged to charge for the process but, keeping in spirit with the celebrations, a decision has been taken to waive associated costs.

To make sure the application process is even easier for residents, a simple form is available from the Council’s website which should only take a matter of minutes to complete.

Councillor Julie Jackson, portfolio holder for resources and support, said:
“Many people in the Borough will no doubt want to join in the national celebrations to mark the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton so it was only right that we should waive charges usually associated with road closures for this event.  The last thing we wanted to do was put people off with costs so this should make it easy for people to host their own parties to mark the big day.”

Road closure application forms, and advice on organising your own Royal Wedding street party, can be downloaded from the website.
