Park Mark Safer Parking Award

Two more Borough Council car parks have been given the ‘Park Mark’ Safer Parking Award. This award now brings the total number of ‘Park Mark’ accredited car parks within the Borough to ten, and overall this equates to approximately 2068 parking spaces (74% of the total spaces available) which have achieved the necessary standard.
The Regent Street No 1(Short Stay) and Regent Street No 2 (Long Stay) car parks in Nuneaton, have both met the standards set by the Police and the British Parking Association, and compliment the eight other car parks which have already attained the award.
The scheme which is promoted by the Association of the Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and managed by the British Parking Association, is intended to show customers a commitment to reduce both criminal activity and the fear of crime. To meet the award each car park is independently vetted by the Police Crime Prevention Officers to show the facility is properly managed, maintained and has appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage and cleanliness – all of which contribute to reducing the opportunity for crime.
Customers who use the ‘Park Mark’ accredited car parks can be confident that measures are in place to deter criminal activity and create a safer environment for both them and the vehicle.
Councillor David Bryden, Cabinet Member for Planning and Development said:
“It is very pleasing to note that another two car parks have achieved the ‘Park Mark’ award. We have continually attempted to improve the standards of parking within the Borough, and these awards demonstrate the progress that we have made. We will continue to focus on improving safety in our car parks and support the initiative to reduce crime within the Borough wherever possible”.
