Are you feeling foolish or safe? You ought to feel safer now the veil has been lifted on the forward thinking marriage of Building Control at NBBC and NWBC. From today customers at both authorities will benefit from the improved, value for money, self financing service which ensures the buildings they frequent provide a healthy and safe environment, at work, home and at play.
Councillors and managers recognised the opportunity and advantages the merger of service provides. Benefits of scale, reduced overheads and management structure allowing better co-ordination of specialist staff and enhanced service to the public.
Building Control, a busy and vibrant team of Surveyors, work alongside Planning and Environmental Health colleagues, ensuring health and safety standards are satisfied for the built environment. Dealing with domestic, commercial and public construction projects, demolitions and established buildings that become dangerous to the public.
Ian Lloyd, the Councillor responsible for planning and development says:
“The official launch of the Northern Warwickshire Building Control Partnership has moved all Building Control Services to NBBC which will provide the service in both Nuneaton and Bedworth and North Warwickshire.
It has not only been the transfer of services that have come our way, but we also have a new member of the Support Services Team, Val Knight, who has joined us from North Warwickshire Borough Council.
The merger has taken a lot of time, commitment and careful planning from the officers involved, and is a significant achievement for both Councils – especially as it is the first merger of this type of service in the Country!”
Cllr Mark Simpson from North Warwickshire Borough Council says:
"We look forward to our Partnership delivering improved services to residents and customers in North Warwickshire; it promises to be an excellent example of providing good service with greater flexibility and achieving value for money."
