More Time to Apply for Safer Neighbourhoods Funding

Money
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has extended its deadline for Safer Neighbourhoods funding to allow more time for community groups to apply. The new deadline date will be Friday 26 October 2007.  The core funding is to support local communities to address issues of crime and disorder and the fear of crime. This funding is to support Safer Neighbourhoods, and the Council is working very closely with the Police and other agencies to address concerns that residents feel are a priority in their community.

Community groups can apply for the funding to work together to complete projects that will benefit and improve the well being of the local community.  Grants of up to £5,000 will be awarded to successful projects. These projects can cover a whole range of ideas as long as they are tackling issues of crime and disorder and the fear of crime.

Councillor Harvey, Leader of the Council said:

“A decision has been made to extend the deadline to allow more time for community groups to apply for Safer Neighbourhoods Funding. This funding will help community groups to carry out worthwhile projects in their area that will help tackle crime and disorder and make people feel safer”
