Lighting introduced in Riversley Park Tunnel

Safer Communities

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have introduced lighting along the inside roof of the Riversley park tunnel.

The tunnel is used frequently by people who wish to walk to the Pingles leisure centre and town centre. The lighting has been installed to try and address peoples fear of crime and to provide a level of reassurance for the people who use the tunnel.

Councillor D. Harvey, Leader of the Council said

“ There is very strong evidence that increased lighting makes people feel safer and reduces crime.  Any initiative that seeks to reduce the fear of crime within our communities is essential.  The installation of lighting is one step towards addressing the fear of crime experienced by our communities.”

Councillor A.A. Lloyd, Cabinet Member for Culture and Recreation said

“ It is good to see the different Council service units working together to provide reassurance to the residents in the borough. I hope that the lighting will help to address people’s concerns and make them feel safer whilst using the tunnel.”
