How active were in you in the 1980s?
Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery are interested to hear from anyone who took part in political debates, strikes or marches during the 1980s in Nuneaton and Bedworth. Employees at the museum are currently researching some of the key milestones of this decade for our up and coming exhibition ‘The 1980s’ running from 21st July to 2nd September.
Councillor Neil Phillips, Cabinet member for Culture and Recreation said
“Strife, strike, change of beliefs and culture, the 1980’s influenced, socialized so many of us. Life stories worth telling, sharing, times to be proud of, to be remembered. Those times that affected so many people in Nuneaton, Mines closing, CND and Greenham Common, marches against most things, happy days, full of vigour and beliefs. So pass on that living history or herstory, because there must be ladies out there with tales to share and record for others to realize that human history does not have to be ancient, just relevant. This exhibition gives the residents of the borough the opportunity to take part in recounting our stories, his and hers.”
