Housing Options Planning Event (HOPE) 2007

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Councils 5th annual housing conference was held on Thursday 22 February 2007 at Bedworth Civic Hall.

60 delegates attended the day long event, hosted by Councillor Bob Copland, Housing Portfolio Holder and Cabinet Member, along with Steve Clark Assistant Director – Housing.

In Councillor Copland’s opening address he welcomed the opportunities he hoped would result from the day to develop closer working relationships with private sector housing providers.

I am delighted to welcome a considerable number of private sector landlords here today as well as other social landlords and stakeholders. I am hoping that following today, we can have a better understanding of each other and begin to put into place some key bridges that will help us all to work with each other and help each other to improve housing in the borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth.”

Local private sector landlord’s, Housing Association representatives, and housing support providers met to discuss and debate the housing issues of the borough. The council recognises that it can no longer provide for the diverse and increasing housing needs in the borough alone and wants to work in partnership with all providers to ensure the maximisation of local resources to meet those housing needs.

It is envisaged that the establishment of a robust Landlords Forum is the ideal vehicle to continue to meet with landlords to develop partnerships and initiatives for improving the condition and provision of private sector accommodation.

The Council is happy to hear from any landlord's in the Borough who would like to attend the Forum or would like to discuss how we could work better together.

Any landlord who would wishes to attend the Forum should contact Steve Clark - Assistant Director Housing.
