Heaviest Pumpkin Presentation
Ethan Keegan, Age 6 from Bedworth was awarded the grand prize of a new Bike after winning the competition that was launched by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and the Heartland Evening News back in April The competition was to ‘Grow the Heaviest Pumpkin’, not an easy task with the wet summer had by all.
Ethan who attends Cannon Evans has worked hard since planning the pumpkin seeds, first in pots, then transferring them to him Grandad’s Allotment where he proudly looked after and nurtured his entry.
Ethan’s prize has also included a family ticket to this year’s Pantomime at the Civic Hall in Bedworth which is Dick Whittington.
Councillor Neil Phillips, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Recreation said today:
“Well done Ethan. Learning about growing plants from seed is a really good introduction to gardening and the Countryside. With all the wet weather that we have had during the summer, it has not been easy for growing vegetables this year, so this is a really great achievement, once again, well done.”
