Green Planting at Marlborough Road

Tree Planting
To continually improve the Marlborough Road Recreation Ground, a tree planting activity is to be planned with the Council, the community of Marlborough Road and Queens Junior on Wednesday, 13th December 2006.  The planting will start at 2.00pm with the first tree being planted by Councillor Tony Lloyd, Cabinet Member for Parks & Countryside and Councillor Bill Sheppard, Ward Member for Wem Brook.  If you want to come down and have a go at planting, just come down to the park between 2.00pm and 4.00pm to find out more.

This event is part of the continuing improvements that Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council’s Outdoor Play Programme is undertaking.  Marlborough Road Recreation Ground has gone through a transformation to upgrade play facilities and provide a safe environment for users over the last few months, this exciting play area is part of the dedicated programme of works with a budget of £2million that the Council has set aside for this Strategy.

The tree planting completes this year’s refurbishments of Marlborough Road, which was opened by The Mayor, Councillor Julie Jackson in June this year which has been busy all summer long with families enjoying the new facilities.  One of the changes has been by request of the community in consultation that ‘no dogs’ are allowed in the park at anytime.

Paul Daly, Parks & Countryside Officer for Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council says:

‘We would like to thank dog owners for respecting this request made by local families.”

Councillor Tony Lloyd said:

‘Tree planting is a an opportunity for the community to ensure their local parks is a place to be enjoyed by all, with the opening in June this year by The Mayor, Marlborough Road Recreation Ground has been extensively used by children and families from the surrounding area, this in conjunction with the consultation of ‘no dogs’ in the parks is creating a safe environment for the children and families that enjoy this exciting facility.’
