Drop-In on Recycling

With huge changes to the way we recycle fast approaching, residents are being urged to ‘drop-in’ and find out how the new system will work to a series of planned information sessions.

The first of these sessions is to be held on Thursday August 18th at Goodyers End Primary School from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with further sessions planned throughout September and the beginning of October.

Residents are encouraged to come along and find out how the changes will affect them, and what to expect come at the end of October, when the new scheme will begin.

The recycling team will be on hand to offer all the information people need, as well as advice on how households can minimise the waste they produce.

Cllr Bill Sheppard, the cabinet member responsible for health and the environment said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to find out about the new recycling scheme ahead of the launch in October, and a chance for them to ask council officers any questions they have about the new scheme.

“The drop in sessions will be taking place all over the Borough, and in addition to these Recycling Roadshows will be visiting the town centres, and the team will be attending the next round of Community Forum Meetings which begin in September.”

The launch of the new recycling system is only two months away, and will see an end to the various containers currently used to recycle and instead a new wheeled bin for all recyclables with a container that fits neatly inside for cardboard and paper.
