Danny Does Well

Danny Darby, of All Saint’s Primary School, Nuneaton is now famous throughout the borough as his artwork was chosen to be on the front of the In Touch Recycling Special, which is being delivered to all households in the borough.

The competition was organised by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, as a way of getting schools involved in the publicity for the recycling services.

Sarah Lloyd, Waste Education Officer says:

‘I thought that having a child’s design on the front of the In Touch Special would make it eye-catching, as well as reminding people why we recycle in the first place.  We really loved Danny’s design because it showed everyone around the world working together to recycle.  I am going to try to use Danny’s design in more posters and leaflets throughout the coming months, so look out for it elsewhere!’

Alan Franks, Environmental Services Director for NBBC, chose Danny’s out of the excellent 100 entries received from across 5 local schools.  The schools were given a brief to design a poster that caught people’s eye about recycling and there were some wonderful entries.

Alan Franks, Environmental Services Director says:

‘Danny’s poster was excellent and showed a really good understanding of what recycling is all about.  I loved the idea of using the front of our annual magazine as a showcase for a child’s work, especially as the magazine has information for the whole year and most people keep it. Danny and his school seemed really pleased that he won, so I’m glad that we are able to help publicise Danny’s school, as well as him doing something for us!’

The In Touch Recycling Special is an annual magazine that goes to all residents in the borough and is an important source of information about green bin collections, recycling services and refuse collections for the year.
