Cleaver Gardens - Open for play

Continuing with the success of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council’s Outdoor Play Programme, the Cleaver Gardens play area in Sandon Park, Weddington has gone through a transformation to upgrade play facilities and provide a safe environment for users over the last few months, this exciting play area is part of the dedicated programme of works with a budget of £2million that the Council has set aside for this Strategy.

A slide and climbing unit, self closing gates, litter bins, refurbishment of the existing swings and a springie are some of the improvements that have been made to the Park.

To launch the new play facilities a promotional event has been planned with the children of Abacus Day Nursery of Weddington Road and Reception children of Weddington Primary School on Tuesday, 12th December 2006.  Two will take place at 10.30am in the morning for Abacus Nursery and again at 1.45pm for the Reception children at Weddington, at both times there will be a ribbon cutting, an opportunity to find out how the park looked before the refurbishment, and a chance to play on the equipment and have some refreshments.

So that the children can talk about the park and open spaces, all the children will be supplied with some plant growing tasks to take back to their classes to undertake in the new few weeks.

Councillor Tony Lloyd, the Councillor responsible for Parks & Countryside said:

‘Although in December the day is forecast to be cold, the park will come alive with the children enjoying the new play facilities.  When they return to School they will also be able to talk about their experience of visiting the park by undertaking some plant growing tasks over the new few weeks.  This is an excellent opportunity for the children of the local community to get together to enjoy their play facilities.’
