Calling all poets

Nuneaton Saturday Market
Local poets are being urged to come forward and showcase their skills at a Poetry Festival set to take place in Nuneaton town centre on July 2nd.

Poets from all over the midlands will be in attendance, but so far only one Nuneaton-based wordsmith is included in the line up.  The day is set to be a feast for the soul with a poet in residence writing about topical issues which he sees throughout the day, a ‘roving poet’ taking words and inspiration from people he meets in the town and ‘poetry karaoke’ in The Crown Pub between 6pm – 8pm.

Cllr Dennis Harvey, Council Leader, said:
“We have a wide range of entertainment planned for the town centres throughout the year and the Poetry Festival promises to be a real treat for visitors to the town.

“This community event is a perfect opportunity for any budding poets to showcase their work to the public and to have their talent heard by other poets from across the Midlands.”

Anyone interested in getting involved should contact Town Centres Manager, Alan Ottey, on 024 7637 6597 or by emailing alan.ottey@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk
