Big Lottery Fund awards £282 000 for Children’s Play in Nuneaton and Bedworth
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have been awarded £282,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to provide new opportunities for outdoor play across the borough. The award will allow six part-time Play Ranger posts to be created for three years and pay for the installation of a new play area at Marston Lane Fields.
Councillor Dennis Harvey, Leader of the Council, said today:
‘This is a fantastic boost for children’s play in Nuneaton and Bedworth, complimenting our commitment to spend £2million on 43 new play areas across all wards. It ensures that the Borough will have high quality play facilities for our children to enjoy for years to come’
The play rangers are set to become familiar faces in the parks of Nuneaton and Bedworth over the next few years. The rangers will be focusing on involving children in the development of new play areas in their local parks.
Councillor Tony Lloyd, Cabinet Member for Culture and Recreation, said today:
‘I am extremely pleased with the outcome of this application. Children and parents have told us that they want more staff in the park offering more activities and helping to improve safety. Today’s announcement demonstrates again our commitment to providing the best opportunities for local children.’
