Safer Neighbourhoods
Safer Neighbourhoods
Neighbourhood Policing is about achieving confident and safer neighbourhoods with all agencies working together, including all public services.
The Home Office document "Neighbourhood Policing; your police; your community; our commitment" sets the scene for achieving the Government's ambition of having Safer Neighbourhood Teams across the Country by 2008. The document recognises that the public wants more visible, accessible and responsive policing and the government agrees with this. The spread of Neighbourhood policing is their method of making it happen.
Neighbourhood Policing is about achieving confident and safer neighbourhoods with all agencies working together, including all public services.
Police team members will include: Police Officers, Special Constables, Police Community Support Officers; Volunteers and accredited personnel working as part of Safer Neighbourhoods teams.
Existing Community Policing will be developed with partners as part of Safer Neighbourhoods in Warwickshire by December 2006.
This will mean:
- Working with local people to address their concerns so that they feel safer.
- Local people deciding what matters most in their neighbourhoods.
- Local communities and different organisations to be involved in tackling local priorities.
- People knowing who their local officers are and how to contact them.
This will become a fundamental way of conducting Police Business for all forces.
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is working closely with the Police in the development of Safer Neighbourhoods.
