From fishing licences to meals on wheels

Directgov, the online destination for all your government transactions and information is launching its first campaign in nearly 2 years.  The website, has now grown to a whopping 5 million visits per month from the 400,000 per month it launched with in 2004 and has launched on mobile and interactive digital TV.

You may have come across it while completing your car tax on line but did you know you can also apply for a fishing licence, child benefit or carers’ allowance amongst many, many other online transactions?  The site is designed to make it easy for you to navigate around government by bringing it all together, in one place.  Praised for its plain English the site is quick and simple to use.

If your mobile phone is internet-enabled then you can use it to access Directgov.  With services and information tailored to those on the move it means Directgov is available where and when you need it. You can quickly find your local pharmacy or A&E, or even a local solicitors.

If you have Sky or Virgin Media you’ll be pleased to know that Directgov services and information are also available there, via the main menu.  Interactive digital TV means that even if you don’t have access to the internet or a whizzy phone you can still access Directgov from the comfort of your own home. You can look up a range of topics, from whether or not you qualify for Winter Fuel Allowance, to a localised job search.

Look out for the Directgov advertising in national and regional press and on the radio for the range of services available on the site, or take a look at the Directgov Website now.
