The Writing Room
George Eliot is well documented in the history of Nuneaton and the museum has long been host to the story of the world famous author. The museum’s writer in residence, Vanessa Oakes, has looked at the legacy created by Eliot and presented a new space for you to come and try your writing skills and see if you could be the next George Eliot?

All Dressed Up
This exhibition from the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry, opens the doors to its amazing costume collection featuring the most glamorous items of evening wear from three very different decades. Discover how people got ‘All Dressed Up’ in the 1890s, 1920s and 1950s. This exhibition is an opportunity to consider how our clothes shape our lives.

Found in the Fields by Carry Akroyd
Carry makes a welcome return to the museum with a selection of colourful lithographs, printworks, linocuts and serigraphs linking the contemporary landscape to the poetry of the 19 Century poet John Clare (1793 – 1864).  The images incorporate text taken from John Clare’s poetry. The lithographs will be for sale priced at £250 each

Chinese Themed Event Day
Did you know that 2012 is the Chinese Year of the Dragon? Pop along to Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery and help us celebrate! 
 
Come and experience the orient in our Chinese Themed Event Day. Marvel at Professor Pop-Ups Puppet Show ‘A Very Chinese Puzzle’. There will also be the opportunity to see some of the museum’s fascinating Chinese objects not normally on display. 
 
We will also be offering our popular, FREE ‘Make and Take Home’ activities for children on a Chinese theme. Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult. 
 
The puppet shows will take place at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Young visitors will also have an opportunity to make and take home their own Chinese Lantern. Making activities will be available all day from 11.00am until 4.00pm. 
 
This event day accompanies our new exhibition ‘Just My Cup of Tea’, now open on the Landing Gallery.

Wednesday 15 February. Make and sail your own Tea Clipper on a stormy sea! 
 
Thursday 16 February. Make your own Mad Hatter's Dormouse and Teapot. 
 
All activities are free but children must be accompanied by an adult. At busy times you may be asked to wait.
