Museum Outreach

Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery Outreach Projects are intended to create wider access to museum collections in order to meet council objectives.  Since 2005 these projects have been targeted towards areas of the community that do not regularly visit the museum.

Each project culminates in the creation of something new, in the case of the Archi-texture Project it was a tea-towel but an exhibition is more usual.  The end products allow the groups to share knowledge, memories and information with museum visitors.  The information and memories gathered are usually recorded and are archived for the benefit of future generations

In September 2009 an evaluation report was commissioned to look at how the Outreach programme was contributing to the priorities set by the local authority.  The report has concluded that

  • The Outreach Programme has been successful in delivering the aims and objectives of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council
  • There is potential for further development of this type of work, and the responses gathered during the research period indicate a desire for this development

Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery would like to thank all those who have funded this work.  We also want to thank those who have taken part in outreach projects over the last four years and who gave up their valuable time to talk about their experiences for the report.

The full report can be accessed here.
