The Authority works in partnership with Local Schools, Colleges and Institutes to provide work placements for students and adults.
This procedure outlines the process to be followed when placing people for work experience placements.
Process for Applying
Schools
- Contact is usually made through the Work Experience Co-ordinator at the School/College.
- There is no requirement for the school to contact the Council. Each year the Warwickshire Careers Service provide a copy of the timetable for work experience for each school.
- A member of the Human Resources unit will confirm the placements verbally with the school's Work Experience Co-ordinator.
- To ensure fairness we will take 3% of the School's work experience year, each service unit will be required to take 4 placements per year.
- Nearer the date of the placement a member of Human Resources will confirm the placement in writing proving information of the students name, location of placement, dates and contact details.
- Prior to the placement the student must arrange an informal meeting with the appropriate contact officer and provide a passport-sized photograph.
- As part of the placement process the student will be required to complete and 'Application Form', which will contain emergency contact details, their skills/abilities which will be held by the contact officer.
Other Work Experience Enquiries
- For enquiries of placements not via a school the Service Unit Manager should be contacted directly.
- The request can be via a letter, fax, email, or using the online enquiries service from this page.
- You should provide your contact details together with details of the type of placement. dates and duration.
- The Service Unit Manager will then contact you back.
- Prior to the placement you must arrange an informal meeting with the appropriate contact officer and provide a passport-sized photograph.
Conditions
- Work experience is part of students and adult's education, and is unpaid.
- Work experience is open to everyone irrespective of age, gender, race, disability, or marital status. However priority is given to schools in the first instance.
