The local authority deals with squatters and unauthorised occupants in council property and will take action against a person who is squatting or who has unauthorised occupants in empty properties.

The local authority will provide support and assistance to tenants who are victims of harassment, anti-social behaviour and noise and nuisances and where necessary take appropriate actions in conjunction with other agencies (police etc.).  
 

Some of the most common causes are:- 

  • Loud and persistent noise from radio’s, TV’s, music, DIY, shouting, parties, arguing, rubbish dumping, barking dogs and banging doors.
  • Dogs cats and other animals not under control or fouling public areas. 
  • Repair of motor vehicles in common areas on estate. 
  • Use of motorbikes, quad bikes on public open spaces.
  • Inconsiderate behaviour by local children, verbal abuse, and any form of harassment by any person.
