Points System

Points are allocated dependant on individual circumstances, though you should look at the 'How to apply for a Council House' Booklet, which will explain the points system. You should receive a copy when applying for a Council House.

  • Every month, one additional point will be added to your application points.
  • Extra points may be given for medical or social grounds in exceptional circumstances.
  • Some areas are more popular than others and therefore fewer vacancies occur.

A property is always allocated to the applicant with highest number of points, however due to the irregular supply of vacant properties and changes in applicants circumstances the points are likely to fluctuate.

Even when you have sufficient points you may still to wait for a suitable property to become vacant. The more areas you select the sooner we can help with accommodation. Please note, once you have sufficient points you may have to wait for a suitable property to become vacant.
