Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is backing a plan to work towards making Nuneaton and Bedworth a Fairtrade Town. The purpose of a Fairtrade Town is to support the Fairtrade Foundations aim of tackling poverty by enabling disadvantaged producers from poor Countries to receive a better deal. A Fairtrade Steering Group has been convened:
The Fairtrade Steering Group meets on a monthly basis;
All meetings will commence at 7pm at Heart of England Co-op, 22 Abbey Street, Nuneaton. Previous minutes for this meeting are attached below. If you would like to attend future meetings, or would like further information please contact Sarah Perry on 024 7637 6346 or email sarah.perry@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk Through the Nuneaton and Bedworth Fairtrade Steering Group, it has been agreed that members of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Youth Forum, during their summer holidays will take a questionnaire round to shops, cafes and work places in both Nuneaton and Bedworth Town Centres to find out if they serve/sell FAIRTRADE Products. This information will then be transferred onto the Fairtrade website and into a Nuneaton and Bedworth Fairtrade Guide If your workplace, shop or cafe currently sells or serves Fairtrade products please let us know and we can add your details to the Fairtrade Guide and Website.
