Strategic Land Availability Assessment (SLAA)

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is currently preparing a Local Development Framework (LDF), a series of documents that will replace the Borough Local Plan.  The documents that make up the LDF will guide where development is located within the Borough up to 2026.

As part of the background work for the LDF the Council is preparing a Strategic Land Availability Assessment (SLAA).  The purpose of the assessment is to identify sufficient suitable sites that are available, or could become available for housing, employment or other development within the next 20 years.

This notice is to request the submission of details of any land in the Borough, the development potential of which you think should be considered as part of the assessment.  At this stage there are no constraints on the location and/or types of site you can submit.  However you should be aware that sites will be assessed against criteria that will determine whether or not they are sustainable.  Please provide details of proposed sites by completing the Site Suggestion Form available at the bottom of this page, or collect a form from the Town Hall reception.

You will need to complete a separate form for each site you have an interest in.

The SLAA is an important source of evidence to inform the LDF but please note that the exercise will not in itself mean that sites will receive planning permission or be put forward as proposed allocations in the LDF.

The Council is also consulting on the methodology for the housing element of the SLAA which has been prepared in line with Government guidance.  The methodology and Government guidance is available to view online.

Comments on the proposed methodology and/or sites to be considered in the study have been submitted over a six week period which stared on Monday 9th June 2008 and ended on Friday 18th July 2008.

If you have any questions about the SLAA please contact the Planning Policy Team on 024 7637 6585/ 6335.
