Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Plan

The Borough Plan sets out the overall planning vision and framework for the Borough for the next 15 to 20 years. The Borough Plan is currently in the process of being prepared and will form a key part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) for Nuneaton and Bedworth. It will contain a vision and strategic objectives for the Borough, as well as Core Policies that will set the basis for directing development over the plan period.
In June 2009 the Council produced an Issues and Option document. This document went out for a period of consultation in the summer of 2009 and the results of this are being fed into the next stage of the Development Plan Process. The comments received in response to the Issues and Options document can be viewed on our consultation homepage.
From The Core Strategy to The Borough Plan!
During the Issues and Options consultation period the document was known as the Core Strategy. Since then the Government has promised to radically reform the planning system so that decisions on the future of the Borough will be made locally.
At a meeting of Cabinet on the 22nd September 2010 Councillors at NBBC agreed to change the name from the Core Strategy to the ‘Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Plan’.
The work undertaken to date to inform the Core Strategy will be ‘carried over’ and used in the preparation of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Plan. This work comprises a number of technical documents which together form the evidence base and the comments received in response to the Core Strategy Issues and Options document which was held in summer 2009.
The Next Steps
The Council is currently working on preparing the Preferred Option for the Borough Plan. This is anticipated to go out for public consultation in 2012.
