Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have powers to require people to maintain their property. Where a property - either domestic, commercial or even a disused bit of land is blighting an area, then we will investigate.

 

Under s215 of the Town and Country Planning Act we can require owners or occupiers to tidy up their property, perhaps removing refuse, replacing rotten windows or replacing rendering that has fallen off - in fact, almost anything that is needed to make sure that property is not adversely affecting the amenity of the neighbourhood.

 

Initially we will normally contact the owner or occupier informally before moving on to more formal action if we don't get any co-operation.
