Nuneaton Town Centre Conservation Area
The Government, and its advisor English Heritage, have stressed the need for Conservation Areas to be managed positively and effectively.
In order to do this, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have recently carried out a study (called a Conservation Area appraisal) of the special architectural and historic interest of the Nuneaton Town Centre Conservation Area and its immediate surroundings. This appraisal has enabled an informed reconsideration of the boundaries and provided justifiable reasons for making alterations to them.
A draft document has been produced which outlines the historic development of the town and identifies the key components of its special architectural and historic interest. It aims to enable better management of the special qualities of the Conservation Area in the future so that its character and appearance is preserved or enhanced. The document sets out future management proposals for the area including proposals to extend the Conservation Area.
Comments received from the public consultation, which ended 7 August 2009, will inform the final version of the appraisal document.
