Abbey Conservation Area
The Government, and its advisor English Heritage, have stressed the need for Conservation Areas to be managed positively and effectively.
In order to do this, an appraisal has been undertaken of the special architectural and historic interest of the Abbey Conservation Area and its immediate surroundings. This appraisal has enabled an informed reconsideration of the boundaries and provided justifiable reasons for making alterations to them following public consultation.
At a meeting on the 12 December 2007 the Council designated an extension to the Abbey Conservation Area.
