Animal Warden Service

The Council has two animal wardens who promote responsible dog ownership. They can issue fixed penalty dog fouling notices to dog owners who allow their dogs to foul public land. Stray dogs are picked up and taken to our kennels. The owners can then retrieve them after paying a fixed fee plus a daily charge.

From 6 April 2008, Warwickshire Police will not be able to accept strays at police stations and people will need to contact their local council instead.  Anyone who finds a dog during office hours (9am-5pm) weekdays should call our Contact Centre on 024 7637 6405 and our Dog Wardens will call to collect the dog. Out of hours from 5pm-6pm weekdays and from 8am-6pm Saturday and Sunday captured strays can be taken to Rookery Kennels, School Lane, Galley Common, Nuneaton. The kennels can be contacted on 024 7639 2504.
