We regularly monitor our performance so that we know what is happening over a period of time to see where we are achieving or falling short of our targets, where we are improving or where we need to concentrate our efforts.
Types of Performance Indicators
We collect and report on various Performance Indicators at different levels;
Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs)
- Set by Government
- They are statutory measures, all Councils have a duty to collate and report them;
- They cover most of our service areas;
- Achievement targets are set by Government for some indicators;
- Reported annually through our Best Value Performance Plan and are subject to a Government Audit;
- Government uses the indicators to measure the effectiveness of how its policies are operating and to judge how well councils are improving.
For results against all best value performance indicators and our targets for the next 3 years, please see the Best Value Performance Plan.
Local Performance Indicators
- These indicators are set locally, i.e. by individual services to reflect local policies and priorities;
- Targets are also set locally;
- Results are monitored and reported departmentally.
- The service standards can be viewed or downloaded below.
