Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is committed to creating a culture in which diversity and equality of opportunity are promoted actively, and eliminating all forms of discrimination.

 

The term equality and diversity are often misunderstood, the following definitions should give some clarity:

 

Equality – does not mean to treat everyone the same, but to recognise that everyone is different and to respond to their needs appropriately.

 

Diversity – essentially means to recognise individual and community differences and to ensure that they are accepted and valued.

 

 

Equality and Diversity is important to the whole Borough and affects every service user, elected member and employee of this Council.

 

We accept that we live in an unequal society in which many people face discrimination, but believe that equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination is a fundamental human right.
