Alley Gating Project

 

Nuneaton & Bedworth Community Safety are working very closely with Housing Services and Warwickshire Police to pilot a scheme to install alley gates between terraced housing, within an area of Abbey ward.

 

The alley gate scheme takes advantage of the fact that there is only one point of entry to the rear of the properties and blocks that route with a security gate.  The gate makes domestic burglary more difficult as criminals cannot gain access to the rear of the property.

 

It is hoped that this partnership work will make the community feel safer and reduce the level of crime in the area.

 

Residents will also be offered crime prevention packs, including smart water and referral to the Coventry and Warwickshire lock scheme who will provide a security survey on the property.

 

Alley gates have proven to be very successful in reducing crime in other areas of the country and this scheme will be closely monitored once implemented.
