The Friendship Project for Children has been awarded £1,000 which will enable 20 children and their families to benefit from the service. The Friendship Project for Children has been making a difference to children’s lives’ for over 21 years now. The organisation is a registered charity and serves the whole of Warwickshire working in partnership with social services and selected schools to help children in need of a “special friend”.
The essence of the scheme is to match a child between the ages of 6 and 16 needing support with someone older who will give care and friendship for about two hours a week. The aim is to develop confidence and aspirations of the young person through outings and activities, quite simple things like playing games, swimming, shopping or going to a show. The possibilities are endless but it is the caring that matters.
