Community Forums are coming to a venue near you in the near future to give you and your local community the opportunity to have a say on local affairs.
Warwickshire County Council, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Warwickshire Police are working together to hold regular Community Forum meetings across Nuneaton and Bedworth to help transform the way that public services are delivered locally. They provide local people with an opportunity to talk about the individual needs of their communities.
Community Forums have evolved from the previous PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meetings, which successfully focussed on local crime and disorder issues. The purpose of the new Community Forums is for people to have their say on all matters affecting their local area, including crime, disorder and anti social behaviour.
The first round of meetings took place in January and early February and some 200 people took the opportunity to attend and raise issues with Police and the Local Councils.
There are seven Community Forums across the Borough. All County and Borough Councillors for the areas attend the meetings, which are chaired by a local councillor. Meetings take place once a quarter.
The idea behind Community Forums is that different areas have different needs and priorities, so the meetings are about addressing the individual needs of local communities. They provide an opportunity for residents to influence the services that they receive locally and to hold service providers to account.
