Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Communities Partnership

It came into existence in June 1999 and is called the Nuneaton & Bedworth Safer Communities Partnership.  It consists of the Borough Council, Warwickshire County Council, Warwickshire Police, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, Probation, Health, businesses, community and voluntary groups all working together to reduce crime and the fear of crime.

The Partnership is lead by a Board of representatives drawn from the partner agencies.  It is supported by a small "Responsible Authorities Group", which involves senior officers from Warwickshire Police, Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council.

Three Special Interest Groups work on specific pieces of work contained in the joint strategy. Currently, these are:

  1. Priority Crime (burglary, violence and vehicle crime)
  2. Community Confidence (Anti social and nuisance behaviour, improving quality of life).
  3. Tackling Drugs and Alcohol Together (linked to many types of crime).

Section 5 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 as amended by sections 97 and 98 of the Police Reform Act 2002 made it a statutory duty for local Authorities, Police, Fire and Rescue Service and PCT's to establish a multi-agency partnership to reduce crime, disorder and drug abuse in their local area. This strategy documents identified key areas of concern and suggests a range of initiatives to tackle them. Please click on the link below to view the strategy.  (2.61 MB)
