Permission must be granted by the local authority before a street collection can take place. Application should be made to the local authority with sufficient notice prior to the date on which the collection is due to take place. This requirement applies to all organisations that collect from a street or a public highway.

How to Apply

  • An application must be submitted (see form below) on each occasion that a street collection is requested.
  • There is no application fee for this licence.
  • Applications should normally be made at least 28 days in advance of the requested date.
  • There is no public register of applications.

Conditions

The council do not usually allow more than one street collection to take place on any one day.  See the Street Collection Regulations document below for conditions covering collections in the Borough.

A return form must be completed following the collection and returned to us.

Consumer complaint
We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Consumer Direct will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
