Private hire vehicles (mini cabs) have to be licensed. Private hire vehicles are vehicles that cannot be hailed from the street, and journeys must be pre-booked. Vehicles must be tested and inspected before a licence can be issued to ensure that they are mechanically fit, safe and comfortable.
How to Apply
- An application form must be submitted along with the fee.
- The current fee is £228 for a 1-year licence Which includes the cost of the vehicle test.
- This is an annually renewable application.

Conditions
- Applications are only processed if the correct fee and documentation has been submitted.
- Supporting documentary evidence must be provided at the time of your application.
- You must submit your vehicle registration document, MOT test certificate and your certificate of vehicle insurance.
