Council Owned Mobile Home and Caravan Sites
The Council has two mobile home sites:-
- One at Caldwell, Nuneaton - having 34 plots. For more information contact the Housing officer on 024 7637 6426

Privately Owned Mobile Home and Caravan Sites
The Council licenses private mobile home sites and sets the conditions that the site owners must follow. Sites are periodically inspected and complaints investigated and where appropriate action taken to remedy the contravention. All private sites must have planning permission before a licence can be granted. There are two sites in the Borough:-

Homes are bought and sold at the council's two site and the private sector sites above.
Who should apply for a licence?
The occupier of the land should apply for the licence. A licence can be transferred to a new occupier. The applicant must be entitled to use the land as a caravan site.
What requirements need to be met for a licence to be issued?
Planning permission to use the land as a caravan site is required before a licence is issued.
The council can attach conditions to the licence regarding standards on site to cover any of the following:
- restricting when caravans can be on the site for human habitation or restricting the number of caravans that can be on the site at any one time
- controlling the types of caravans on the site
- controlling the positioning of the caravans or regulating the use of other structures and vehicles, including tents
- to ensure steps are taken to enhance the land, including planting/replanting bushes and trees
- fire safety and fire safety controls
- to ensure that sanitary and other facilities, services and equipment are supplied and maintained
What is the cost of the licence?
There is no cost for a licence.
Are there any exemptions?
There are exemptions which should be checked with the council to confirm if a licence is needed. Licences will not be issued to applicants who have had site licences revoked within 3 years of the current application.
What are the penalties if a site is used without a licence?
In the case of a first offence the fine does not exceed £100 and in the case of a second or subsequent offence, the fine does not exceed £250.
Application Evaluation Process
Applications must be made in writing, should detail the land application concerns and any other information required by the council.
Failed application redress
If a licence holder is refused an application to alter a condition they may appeal to the local Magistrate's court. The appeal must be made within 28 days of the written notification of the refusal and a notice of appeal must be served on the council.
Licence holder redress
If a licence holder wishes to appeal against a condition attached to a licence they may appeal to the local Magistrate's court. The appeal must be made within 28 days of the licence being issues.
