Dog Boarding Kennels and Catteries have to be licensed by the Council under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963. An annual inspection is carried out to ensure that animals are kept in a clean and safe environment which complies with the legislation. Along with the inspection an annual licence fee is charged, for 2009/2010 this fee is £163 and for 2010/2011 this fee will be £166.
