MyBusinessRates
The Valuation Office Agency (VOA), in partnership with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), has developed http://www.mybusinessrates.gov.uk/ to bring together all the information on business rates that ratepayers might want, in one place, in an easily accessible format and in jargon-free, everyday language. Appeals
If you think your Rateable Value is wrong, you can apply to the Valuation Officer to change it. To do this, you will need to make a 'proposal' to alter the Rating List. (You can obtain forms for this purpose from your local Valuation Office, 5th Floor, Sherbourne House, 1 Manor House Drive , Coventry CV1 2TG: Telephone 0121 410 3700.
You have to pay Rates based on the Rateable Value shown in the Rating List even if you have appealed against it. But provided you have kept up with your payments, any overpayment you are found to have made when an appeal is successful will be refunded with interest.
