You can pay by cash, cheque, postal order or debit card.
By Direct Debit
Direct Debits can be used to pay Council Tax,Business Rates and Housing Rents. They are the most cost effective and efficient way for people with bank (and most building society) accounts to pay.
For further information or a direct debit mandate please call the Billing Section on 024 7637 6534. For Housing Rents call the Contact Centre on 024 7637 6406.
Alternatively, contact us to request a mandate to be sent to you or download the form below.
For Council Tax or Business Rates you can chose from a due date of the 1st or 16th of each month. Payments will be taken monthly unless you request to pay your account in two six-monthly instalments or one annual instalment (both are payable in advance).
For Housing Rents and Garage Rents you can chose from 1st of each month, or friday of each week, both payable in advance. You can either request a direct debit mandate or download the Housing Mandate below.
By Standing Order
Standing Orders can be used to pay Council Tax, Business Rates and Housing Rents. You may set up standing orders at your bank.
For each Standing Order you will need to quote:
- Sort Code 54-21-13
- Account Number 56580762
plus one of the following as appropriate:
- Your Council Tax Reference Number OR
- Your Business Rates Reference Number OR
- Your Housing Rent Reference Number
Please allow sufficient time for the payment to reach us.
You may pay at any Post Office free of charge, but you must have your Council Tax or Rent Swipe Card with you. If paying by cheque, you should make the cheque payable to Post Office Counters Ltd.
Please allow up to 4 working days for your payment to reach your account on the due date.
Trans Cash may also be used to pay your Business Rates at the Post Office. Please note there may be a small charge for this service.
By Telephone
If you have a debit card and wish to pay over the phone you should contact the direct payments line on 024 7637 6172.
This method can be used for Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Rents and Debtor Invoices.
Please have your account reference to hand and details of the amount you wish to pay. Payments will be authorised at the time of the call and a receipt issued to confirm the payment.
By Post
You can send a cheque or crossed postal order to Community Finance, Town Hall, Coton Road, Nuneaton, CV11 5AA.
Please note that the Council can accept NO responsibility for items lost in the post. If using 2nd class mail, please post your payment at least 4 working days before the due date to ensure that it is received on time.
